2021 Report to the European Commission on the CENELEC implementation of Regulation (EU) Nº 1025/2012 on European Standardization
The present report is prepared by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) as a self-standing document pursuant to Art 24 of Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 (hereby referred to as “the Regulation”). It is the 9th annual report of its kind submitted by CENELEC after the entry into force of the Regulation on 1 January 2013.

Johan Bergquist receives the IEC 1906 Award
Every year, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) awards technical experts in the field of electrotechnical standardization with IEC 1906 Award to recognize and honor their invaluable and exceptional contribution on recent standardization. This year, the only representative of Finnish National Committee receiving the award was PhD Johan Bergquist.
Jarmo Virtanen to receive the IEC 1906 Award
This year as the only awardee from Finland, Mr. Jarmo Virtanen received the IEC 1906 Award as a recognition for his long-term work in electrotechnical standardization as an expert in project groups of technical committee IEC TC 97 Electrical installations for lighting and beaconing of aerodromes.
Standardization of Electrical Energy Storage Systems of Interest
The electrical energy storage systems are used for example to level out the peak load, work as energy storage when the network is disrupted and improve the quality of electricity. There are plenty of ongoing development projects on direct current distribution in the world and due to this the role of the energy storage is also growing significantly.

IEC code of conduct for delegates and experts provides brief guidelines on a number of issues which delegates and experts may be confronted with as participants in the IEC Standards process. It provides information additional to that given in the ISO/IEC Directives (all parts) and reference should be made to these for details.
Congratulations to SESKO on 50 years of standardization
SESKO was established 50 years ago. On the 8th of November 1965, SESKO was founded as the Finnish Electrotechnical Standardization Association – Finlands Elektrotekniska Standardiseringsförening rf. Over the years, the name has been shortened. By 2015, when the national electrical standards organization was having its jubilee celebration, it was known nationally and internationally as SESKO.
Emergence of young talent – The IEC Young Professionals
IEC is constantly striving to expand its network of experts with more and more qualified people. For that reason, it launched the IEC Young Professionals programme in 2010. Many National Committees have followed its example and launched their own comparable programmes in order to familiarize the young generation of experts with standardization.
